M-m-m-m-my Corona
Apologies to The Knack.
Last night was a not-so-quite-after work meeting at a local watering hole, and I decided to try my first beer since starting on the Topamax. Nothing major, just a Corona with lime. Well, what I found out was that Topamax has just about the same effect on beer that it does on diet soda. It makes it taste like crap.
One of the things that I liked about beer was the crisp, acidic burst on the tongue, the bubbly flavor that fills your mouth. Well, the Topamax kills all that. Just like the soda, the beer tasted flat, kind of salty and sweet at the same time. Sort of like soy sauce. Definitely not as bad as the Pepsi One, since I was able to drink two of them, but still not good.
Thankfully, I wasn't paying for them.
The really bad news is that I'm headed to Munich in the next couple of weeks, and normally I'd be looking forward to trying some nice local brews. Not now.
The really, really bad (good) news is that I had a migraine today. The first since the trip to Florida. The lack of chronic daily headaches with the migraines spaced a couple weeks apart is a definite improvement. I've been holding steady at my current dose of Topamax, but it might be time to up it to the next level to see if that has more of a positive effect.
