Who Put the Soy Sauce in my Pepsi One?

Since I started on the Topamax, I gotta say that my beloved Pepsi One has tasted a bit "off"-- kind of flat, a little too sweet. Not like it used to taste.

However . . . It was still drinkable, and it was still bearable.

This week, I added my second dose of Topamax, and I'm now on a morning and evening dose. Still no tingling, so I'm tolerating it well. Anyway, as of today, I've been on the double dose for a total of two days.

Today, halfway through a can of Pepsi One, it tasted like someone poured a shot of soy sauce into it. It went from bearable to "oh my God, get this crap away from me."

Amazing what a drug's affect on the brain can do, huh?

On the plus side, the appetite suppressant effect continues, along with the mood stabilization and headache preventative.

It will come back to you, your beloved Pepsi One....though not for a while....for a while it will taste like crap as will all colas. The question is, will the topamax work for your head? That's the Million $$$ question. I hope the answer is YES!

Oh yeah, I'm on spring break...stupid weather...storms came through about 6...tornado alarms went off at 7...now I can't sleep....although I'm getting sleepier, so maybe I can go back to sleep...that would be good. Better than up in your neck of the woods I here...is everyone ok up there?

So far, the titration seems to be working pretty well. I've had no more than one migraine a week (treatable by my abortives), and the chronic daily low-level migraine generally seems to be gone. On the plus side, I'm really enjoying being full after a reasonably sized portion of food!

We missed the really bad weather here, nothing more than a few fat raindrops some lightning and thunder, and a couple of gusts of wind. Southwest of us wasn't quite as lucky, though!

Hey Rob,

I am a chronic migraine/cluster patient. I tried topamax but eventually I couldn't stand it any more. I tell you, I couldn't remember my middle name when I took that stuff- but hopefully you'll have some success! Keep a steady eye on your weight. I'm small and still dropped 15 lbs. Everything tasted like dirt to me- even mexican food which you'd THINK would be potent enough to break through.

Anyhoo- email me sometime if you like! I'm VERY pleased to say that after a couple of years I've finally got my headaches (both kinds!) under control and I've made it my mission in life to do what I can to help other headache sufferers.

I have used Topomax, but hate how flat it leaves me emotionally, so stopped it, and find I am having too many migraines again.

Does anyone have suggestions as to getting rid of migraines? I wonder if drinking Pepsi, then stopping abrubtly, is a big cause?

I took topomax for awhile ...the side effects are insane ! I was having tingling constantly throught my face and hands. Also just to remind you if you are taking topomax it breaks down the estrogen in your system. Which means that if you are also taking birth control it will break down the estrogen in the birth control and most of the time cancel out the birth control. I had to learn that.
